Used Digital Mixer Buying Guide: Configuration Checklist

Compare the exact console, installed options, stage I/O, firmware and accessories instead of assuming that a model name describes a complete system.

In brief

Write down the required signal paths first. Then identify the physical console variant, firmware, installed cards, stage rack and cables, and request a demonstration of that exact combination. Factory capabilities are not proof of the supplied configuration.

1. Start with your intended workflow

Specify local and remote inputs, outputs, recording, monitoring and control requirements. Identify the console and existing equipment you need to connect; do not assume devices with similar connectors are compatible.

2. Ask for configuration, not a family name

The following are purchase questions, not compatibility promises. The installed hardware and relevant manufacturer documentation must be checked for the exact versions.

ReferenceWhat changes the purchaseEvidence still needed

3. Itemise the complete package

List each stage box or rack, card, connection cable, case, power lead and licensed function. Record unknown transfer or account conditions instead of assuming optional software follows the hardware.

  • Use exact model identifiers where available.
  • Mark every item included, excluded or to confirm.
  • Do not interpret another item in a group photograph as included.

4. Request a relevant system demonstration

Agree a unit-linked demonstration covering the controls and paths you actually need. Identify the firmware, connection settings, tested components and any untested functions. A standalone power-on does not demonstrate a connected stage rack or recording workflow.

5. Carry the configuration into the quotation

Use the same named configuration in the evidence request, offer and acceptance record. Current availability, price, defects, dispatch and warranty responsibility remain to confirm for each actual purchase.

Sources and scope.

Editorial purchasing checklist reviewed 2026-10-16. These are questions to ask, not reports of inspections performed by AudioRegear. Manufacturer information describes model design, not the condition, authenticity, options or included items of supplied equipment.

Current stock, testing, accessories, price and commercial terms remain to confirm. Qualified inspection, installation and destination-specific advice must be arranged as appropriate; this page is not a certificate or legal / customs determination.

Continue with the actual equipment.
